Tips: In order to prevent rain, the umbrella surface is brushed with natural tung oil, the new umbrella will have the smell of tung oil, and it needs to be dried in a ventilated place for 2-3 days after receiving the goods!

Rather than binding every rib, the artisan uses carefully spaced stitches to connect the key ribs with the oiled paper, striking a balance between efficiency and elegance. This method allows for greater flexibility and a more breathable structure, making the umbrella easier to open and close, and ideal for everyday shading, decorative display, and cultural occasions.
Every stitch is applied by hand, with attention to detail and symmetry. Though less labor-intensive than fullly-pieced craftsmanship, the Half-Pieced Technique still carries the warmth of traditional artistry and delivers both beauty and functionality in a refined form.

The color is soft and natural—just my taste. The umbrella sleeve is vintage with Chinese calligraphy, which is so unique and fun!
Very different from the one I bought on Etsy — this one uses thick threads to bind the umbrella frame, not just paper glue. You can tell it took real craftsmanship and patience to make. I love it.
